The Spade 7 Tactical Large GP Pouch "Abyss" is an option to those of you who want versatility. Most other Large GP Pouches take up a ton of space when it comes to their footprint. Ours is a 3 horizontal by 6 vertical and has a unique way of sitting on the MOLLE it is mounted to. Most other pouches in this weight class will hang low off of your chest rig or plate carrier which has the potential to cause issues when crouched depending on where it is mounted. The "Abyss" sits slightly above and slightly below where you choose to mount it which eliminates that dangle without sacrificing the size of the pouch. You will notice that the opening is a bit different as well. Most GP pouches have a centered zipper that creates two lips when the pouch is open. The "Abyss" has a similar opening to some rucks. When unzipped the flap that is created is able to be folded away from you providing an excellent sight line into your pouch. So, what about retaining what is in the "Abyss"? A small lip is created around the zipper which helps prevent the items that are at the top of the pouch from falling out. Further down in the pouch you have a cell on the rear that is meant for note pads, small maps, range cards, triage cards, etc. On top of that cell are elastic retainers for pens/pencils, map markers, chest decompression needles, and other similar sized items. the rest of the pouch is left open to accept all of your larger items you will be carrying.
